An altercation over Chinese Army movements led to the clash near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
Digital Desk: The 16th round of talks between the two armies' corps commanders is now being planned by China and India. In a chat with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi earlier this week, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar asked for the prompt resolution of unresolved issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). But despite attempts, it has been close to four months since the last round of talks between the two countries at the corps commander level.
There are various flashpoints along the LAC where issues remain unsolved despite numerous rounds of talks with the neighbouring nation. Since 2020, the two sides have had some success in disengaging enemy troops in specific places.
The Indian Air Force responded quickly after learning that a Chinese jet had flown extremely close to a site of friction on the LAC in the last week of June. The incident occurred at about 4 am, according to sources cited by the news agency ANI. Men on the ground spotted the aircraft, and local radars deployed in the border area also detected it.
The conflict in the Galwan Valley in June 2020 led to the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers. Soldiers fought in the hand-to-hand battle in subzero temperatures and near-total darkness during the clash, which is regarded as the deadliest confrontation between India and China in more than four decades.

In his remarks to Yi on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, Jaishankar reaffirmed the importance of "completely adhering to bilateral agreements and protocols, as well as the understandings achieved between the two Ministers during their prior meetings."
A press release from the Ministry of External Affairs stated, "EAM called for an early resolution of all the outstanding issues along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh. Recalling the disengagement achieved in some friction areas, EAM reiterated the need to sustain the momentum to complete disengagement from all the remaining areas to restore peace and tranquility in the border areas."
