Digital Desk: Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev lost his temper on camera and lashed out at a reporter when asked about his past comments about ‘petrol prices falling to Rs 40 if the government changed in 2014’.
In a viral video from Haryana’s Karnal, a journalist is seen questioning the Patanjali brand ambassador about his previous statement to the media that people should recognize a government that can assure petrol at Rs 40 per litre and cooking gas at Rs 300 per cylinder.
The journalist was relating to Ramdev’s appearance on a news channel shortly before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Ramdev, clearly upset by the question, responded, “Yes, I said it, what can you do? Don’t keep posing such queries. Is it my job as your thekedar (contractor) to keep answering your questions?”
Further, when the reporter asked the same question again, Baba Ramdev threatened him, saying it would be bad for him if he asked such questions again. “I made the remark. Ab kya kar lega? Chup ho ja, ab aage se puchhega to thik nahi hoga ( If you ask again, it will not be good for you),” he clarified.
“Don’t speak like this, you must be the son of decent parents,” he continued.
This comes in the wake of a sharp increase in oil prices over the last ten days. Petrol and diesel prices increased by another 80 paise per litre on Thursday, increasing about Rs 6.40 per litre in nine revisions in the last ten days.
With the most recent price increase, petrol now costs Rs 101.81 per litre in Delhi, while diesel costs Rs 93.07 per litre.
Petrol and diesel prices in Mumbai have soared by 84 paise, costing Rs 116.72 and Rs 100.94 per litre, respectively.
Petrol prices in Chennai have risen by 76 paise per litre, bringing the retail price to Rs 107.45. The diesel price has risen by 76 paise per litre to Rs 97.52.
In Kolkata, the price of petrol is Rs 111.35 per litre (an increase of 83 paise) and diesel is Rs 96.22 per litre (an increase of 83 paise) (increased by 80 paise).
