Digital Desk: The Indian equity indices, NSE Nifty and BSE Sensex closed lower on Thursday. The NSE Nifty ended below the 23,550 mark, while the BSE Sensex dropped to 528 Points.

in COVID-19 cases, India reported 16,935 new cases and 51 deaths in the
previous 24 hours on Sunday, a low number compared to the days before.
Yesterday, more than 20,000 illnesses and 49 fatalities were reported across
the country.
The
number of coronavirus cases in India hit 20 lakh on August 7, 30, 40, and 50
lakh on August 23, September 5, and September 16, respectively. On September
28, October 11, October 29, October 30, November 20, and December 19, the
thresholds of 60 lakh, 70 lakh, 80 lakh, 90 lakh, and 1 crore were all
exceeded.
