New Delhi/Kolkata: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee all possible help from the Centre regarding Cyclone Bulbul. A recent tweet by Modi read “Reviewed the situation in the wake of cyclone conditions and heavy rain in parts of Eastern India. Spoke to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee regarding the situation arising due to Cyclone Bulbul. Assured all possible assistance from the Centre. I pray for everyone’s safety and well-being”.
On Sunday, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm Bulbul lay centred about 75 km east-northeast of Sundarban National Park in West Bengal.
The severe cyclonic storm killed five people alone in North Parganas. As per the reports of a senior police officer, a woman died at Purba Makala village in Basirhat area of the district when a tree fell on her. The latest reports state that 7 people have been killed due to Cyclone Bulbul until now.
