Bhubaneshwar: As the death toll rises in Odisha, the State Government has sought the centre’s help in restoring the communication and electricity supply in the state after the devastating cyclone Fani completely destroyed the power and communication lines in the entire state.
Cyclone Fani leaves Odisha completely cut-off from the country
The death toll touched 37 with 21 reporting from Puri district alone, 4 and 5 deaths each in Jajpur and Mayurbhanjh districts. More deaths were also reported from Cuttack district.
Odisha Government seeks Centre’s help
The State Government has sough the help of the Centre to restore power and telecom services as after the cyclone ravaged 1.56 lacs of power lines across the state, bringing the entire region to a standstill. The telecom and power service has completely collapsed and has affected in the worst way for the people residing in Odisha.
Power and communication lines restoration in Odisha
The Government has sought Rs 17000 crores central assistance and also in providing manpower for restoration of power supply and rebuilding the infrastructure. Moreover PM Narendra Modi has announced Rs 1000 crore additional interim assistance.
Water supply restored in Odisha
Meanwhile the State Government has been trying its best to restore the water supply in the State but has not give any timeline for restoration of electricity service.
