(PETA) has written a letter to the Delhi Police, a week after a dozen dogs were
killed in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area.
In its
complaint, PETA stated that some minor boys brutally treated dogs and killed
half a dozen of them in the Jamia Nagar area of the national capital.
In response
to the complaint, police officers stated that they had received a report from
PETA alleging that some minors in Delhi's Jamia region were violently torturing
dogs and killing half a dozen of them.
According to
ANI, police stated, "There is only one male child who has been
identified." On the spot, no dog carcass was discovered. The process to apprehend
CCL u/s 429 IPC has started because the miscreant is a minor. " (sic)
Following
PETA's complaint, police claimed they had initiated an inquiry, but no FIR had
been filed.
Two
complaints were received regarding the killing of stray dogs at the Joga Bai
Jhuggi neighborhood in Jamia Nagar from Divya, a member of the Karan Puri
organization, and Bhargeswar Doley of PETA India. The complainant and police
identified the concerned jhuggi at Joga Bai after receiving the complaint.
One minor
boy aged 10 to 12 years has been identified by police, although he was not
present at the time of inspection at Jhuggi. There was no dog carcass found on
the scene, and no eyewitness came forward to give testimony.
It may be
mentioned that the complainant had provided a photo and video of a dead dog,
but the location could not be identified from the video. Moreover, no one is
seen killing the dog in the video clip.
Notably, the
complainant has been asked for more videos to identify the place and accused
persons involved in the incident.
