Tinsukia : 5 killed while 1 person grievously injured by suspected militants at Dhola-Sadiya killings, Tinsukia district. As per reports, the six persons attacked by suspected militants belong to Hindu Bengali community, who were sitting in a shop at Kherbari, about four km from Sadiya were picked up by gunmen in camouflage attire.
The deceased has been identified as Subal Das, Dhananjay Namsudra, Anant Biswas, Shyamal Biswas and Abinash Biswas.
“The six youths were taken to the bank of Brahmaputra river, were made to sit in line and were shot at,” a source said.
Five have been confirmed dead with one grievously injured who was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Dhola-Sadiya killings condemned by entire nation
Police suspect ULFA-I behind the entire incident though ULFA-I have confirmed by posting a mail in which they clearly state that the killings were not done by Paresh Baruah’s ULFA-I team.
It may however be mentioned that intelligence unit few days back had inputs of ULFA-I planning to conduct a similar attack under the leadership of its assistant publicity secretary Arunoday Asom, alias Arunoday Dahatiya.
Following the gun firing, army and police has been rushed to the spot.
Political leaders condemn Dhola-Sadiya killings
Intelligence input was that the attack was planned to “send a strong message” to organisations that are supporting the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
Assam chief minister on the other hand have immediately instructed the water resources minister Keshav Mahanta and minister of state (power) Topon Kumar Gogoi to immediately proceed to the incident site to take stock of the situation.
