Farmers in Trichy, Tamil Nadu took to the streets yet again to vent their anger against the incompetence of the government shown to set up an independent Cauvery Management Board.
Approximately one lakh protestors were arrested yesterday across Tamil Nadu in connection with the Cauvery issue. While farmers from Trichy showed their anger against the government by burying themselves in sand upto their torsos, demanding the formation of Cauvery Management Board. Farmer leader Ayyakannu led this unique protest in Trichy and was himself part of the protest along with his fellow farmers.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has assured the farmers that the government will provide all possible help to safeguard the vested interests of the farmers as well as their livelihood and restore all the states’ rights in the ongoing turbulence connected with the sharing of the Cauvery River among the three states.
