Digital Desk: An FIR has been filed against BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey, Manoj Tiwari, and seven others after they allegedly forced officials at Deoghar airport in Jharkhand to clear their chartered flight for take-off at night.
Suman Anan, the airport's DSP, filed a complaint, which led to the filing of the case against the BJP leaders. Nishikant Dubey, Manoj Tiwari, and the airport director are among the nine people who have been charged with criminal trespass and endangering the lives or safety of others.
The FIR claims that on August 31, Lok Sabha MP from Godda Nishikant Dubey, his son Kanishk Kant Dubey, Mahikant Dubey, MP Manoj Tiwari, Mukesh Pathak, Devta Pandey, and Pintu Tiwari entered the high-security Air Traffic Control (ATC) at Deoghar airport without authorization and exerted pressure to allow their chartered plane to take off.
The newly opened airport has not yet been given the all-clear to operate at night. Currently, airport flight operations are permitted until 30 minutes before sunset.
The complainant's statement states that the incident occurred on a day when sunset occurred at 6:03 pm. At 6:17 p.m., the chartered flight carrying the BJP officials took off.
Nishikant Dubey responded to the FIR against him by saying, "The airport authority did not object. We received authorization from the airport director, and we will present our version of events if necessary."
Dubey and Deoghar District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri got into a Twitter argument on Friday night after the BJP politician allegedly "breached national security" by circumventing safety norms and forcibly obtaining authorization for his travel.
Dubey responded by tweeting, "I’d suggest you to study aviation rules again. As an IAS officer, the nation expects better from you. Now the matter is under investigation at all possible levels, please comment further only after reading aviation and airport rules carefully henceforth."
