Dehradun : Flash floods caused due to cloud burst which occurred in Dhurma village of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand on Saturday late night, damaged roads, washed away houses forcing many to vacate their houses as debris kept tripling inside their houses.
Though no casualties have been reported till now, the Uttarakhand district administration has rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. Landslides triggered with heavy rains have created havoc in the area disrupting normal life.
The MET department has predicted more rain in the coming days thus alerting the locals of landslides and flash floods. While reports are pouring in from Govindghat in Uttarakhand’s Gopeshwar district where more than half a dozen vehicles came under the debris of a landslide. District Disaster Management officer NK Joshi said there is no information yet about loss of lives however.
Govindghat is the main halt en route to the Himalayan Sikh shrine of Hemkund Sahib.
