"Flight to Goa Cheaper," Man Tweets as Uber Charges Rs 3,000 For 50 Km Ride

Shravankumar Suvarna, a resident of Mumbai, tweeted about his experience. He even provided screenshots of the Uber app's price display.

Digital Desk: Mumbai resident was shocked by the exorbitant fare charged by the ride-hailing company Uber for
ferrying a customer. In the pouring rain, the person tried to get a cab to
get home but was shocked to find the fare running into thousands.

Twitter users
had a range of ideas as to how that amount could be put to better use, starting

over ₹ 3,000.

respectively Rs 3,041, Rs 4,081, and Rs 5,159.

than my ride home," Mr Suvarna tweeted. Even the hashtag "peak
Mumbai rains" was added by him.

to Mr Suvarna's tweet.

user calculated how much Uber should have charged and came to that conclusion. Is
diesel/petrol really so expensive, the user asked. According to the picture, it
only appears to be 50 kilometres. It will cost around 500 rupees even with a 10
km ride. Why are they charging an additional 2.5k? For this ride, 1200 rupees
should be enough.
