Digital Desk: The government said Tuesday that three Indian Air
Force officials had been fired for accidentally launching a BrahMos missile
into Pakistan earlier this year.
"On March 9, 2022, a BrahMos missile was unintentionally
launched. A Court of Inquiry (Col), established to investigate the facts of the
issue and determine who was responsible for the incident, ruled that three
officers' disregard for Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) resulted in the
missile being accidentally fired "Air Force released a statement.
"The incident has mostly been blamed on these three
officers. The Central Government has immediately terminated their services. The
officers received termination notices on August 23, 2018 "It was ad.
Earlier in March, a missile was inadvertently launched from the
Indian side into a region of Pakistan; the Defence Ministry described the
incident as "very unfortunate" and attributed it to "technical
breakdown."
Pakistan claims that the missile entered their airspace and
travelled more than 100 km inside of it before landing at a height of 40,000
feet and a speed of three times the speed of sound. The missile did not explode
since it did not have a warhead.
"Be careful of the painful implications of such neglect
and take effective measures to avoid the recurrence of similar transgressions
in future," Pakistan admonished India.
