Four Kerala Congress workers arrested for smashing Mahatma Gandhi's photo in Rahul Gandhi's office
The grand old party said that the photo was shattered when employees from the Students' Federation of India, or SFI - the Left's student branch - destroyed the party office in Wayanad.

Digital Desk: Police have detained four Congress members, including Rahul Gandhi's personal assistant in Wayanad Ratheesh, in connection with the damage of Mahatma Gandhi's photo in Rahul Gandhi's office in June.

The Students' Federation of India, or SFI, the student arm of the Left, was accused by the grand old party of breaking the photo when its employees destroyed the party office in Wayanad.

When desecrators broke into Rahul Gandhi's Wayanad office, the Indian Youth Congress claimed in a tweet that "the goons held the flags of SFI."

However, the police refuted the claims and claimed that Congress was actually responsible for the supposed attack.

T Siddique, a Congress leader, and Kalpetta MLA, said two of those arrested were Rahul Gandhi's office personnel — a Personal Assistant (PA) and a helper — while two others were party workers. He strongly opposed the arrest and said that the charges against the Congress staffers were false.

The Congress had claimed that a photograph of Mahatma Gandhi, which was hanging on the wall of Rahul Gandhi's office, was damaged during the vandalism of the Wayanad MP's office in Kalpetta on June 24 by SFI activists.

The SFI activists marched to Gandhi's office and allegedly vandalized it, claiming inaction on his behalf regarding the issue of Ecologically Sensitive Zones (ESZ) around forests.
