In a post on X, PM Modi said that he is looking forward to meeting PM Carney at the Summit.
The G7 Summit is set to take place in Kananaskis in Alberta, Canada later this month.
This will be the first official meeting between Modi and Carney since he assumed PM office after victory in Canada's federal elections.
The Group of Seven (G7) is an intergovernmental political and economic forum consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It is also attended by the European Union (EU), the IMF, the World Bank, and the United Nations are also invited.
The ties between the two countries downgraded following the killing of Khalistani separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.
Then Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau accused the Modi government of being involved with the murder. However, India had dismissed the allegations and called it 'baseless'.
Following the controversy, both countries expelled each other's diplomats, with India accusing Canada of providing a safe haven to extremists.
