A 1,600 MW thermal power plant has been built in the Godda region of Jharkhand by Adani Power, a subsidiary of the Adani Group, to provide electricity to the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) via a transmission line.
Digital Desk: Industrialist and chairman of Adani Group, Gautam Adani has declared that his organisation will provide electricity to Bangladesh from its upcoming power project in Jharkhand by December 16, which is observed in Bangladesh as Bijoy Dibosh (Victory Day) to mark the country's independence from Pakistan in 1971.

Adani, after meeting Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday tweeted: "We are committed to commissioning our 1600 MW Godda Power Project and dedicated transmission line to Bangladesh by Bijoy Dibosh, 16 Dec 2022."
The project is crucial because Bangladesh has been recognised by India under its "Neighborhood First" strategy as a significant partner. The government of Narendra Modi has pledged to assist all of its neighbours in matters pertaining to trade, commerce, rivers, energy, transportation, connectivity, science, and technology.
Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, will meet with senior Indian cabinet ministers during her four-day visit. On Monday, she had a meeting with S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, and they spoke about important and relevant bilateral matters.
"Delighted to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh this evening. The warmth and frequency of our leadership level contacts is a testimony to our close neighbourly partnership," Jaishankar tweeted on Monday.
