    Giant Telia Bhola fish caught by fishermen in Digha, sold for Rs 13 lakh
    Shibaji Kabir, a local South 24 Parganas resident, brought the fish to Digha for auction. The fish was sold for Rs 26,000 per kg after three hours of bidding, bringing in a total of Rs 13 lakh.

    Digital Desk: A gigantic "Telia Bhola" fish weighing around 55 kg was caught by a group of fishermen on Sunday at Digha in East Midnapore, West Bengal. 

    Shibaji Kabir, a local South 24 Parganas resident, brought the fish to Digha for auction. The fish was sold for Rs 26,000 per kg after three hours of bidding, bringing in a total of Rs 13 lakh.

    Speaking of the giant fish, a businessman said, "This fish jaw can be used to manufacture medicines that save lives. Therefore, a foreign corporation paid a big sum to purchase this giant fish."

    Another businessman named Kartik Bera said, "The fish was a female carrying eggs. Therefore, there wasn't much fish maw present.  Six days ago, a male Telia Bhola was sold for Rs. 9 lakh."

    Notably, a member of the Digha Fisherman and Fish Traders Association, Nabakumar Payra said, "This type of giant Telia Bhola fish comes twice or thrice in a year. And the fisherman, who gets hold of this fish, turns rich after a single catch."
