Guwahati : In order to stop discrimination for male candidates from North east applying for central paramilitary forces, the centre has relaxed the height norms in few categories for posts of constables and sub-inspectors.
Earlier the height norms for the male ST candidates from the Northeast for recruitment as constables was 162.5 cm and now after revision, the height should be 157 cm.
The revised height in cms have also changed for Gorkha candidates and male aspirants from the Northeast for the posts of Sub-Inspector in paramilitary forces and Assistant Sub Inspector in Central Industrial Security Force. Now the heights have been reduced to 157 cm instead of 165 cm (for SI) and 162.5 cm (for ASI) respectively.
“I compliment PM Sri @narendramodi and HM Sri @rajnathsingh for the historic decision to remove discrimination in height norms for the STs of North-East India & Gorkhas for recruitment in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). Paves way for recruitment of many youth from NE (sic),” tweeted Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
It may be mentioned that the new height norms will be applicable for Central reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Assam Rifles (AR).
