    Here are the Key Points from the Cabinet Meeting Held Today

    • The Cabinet has approved the implementation of the revised All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Scale of Pay for faculty of Shillong Polytechnic and others on transfer to the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education. 

    Digital Desk: The below mentioned points are the important decisions taken during today’s Cabinet Meeting:

     

    • The Cabinet approved the amendment to the Meghalaya Secretarial Services Rules 1992 with respect to the "Appointing Authority" for the posts of Superintendent, Under Secretary, and Deputy Secretary, which was previously the Governor, and shall now be the Chief Secretary.

     

    • The Cabinet has approved the recategorisation of the category of brands for Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). Due to changes in rates in other neighbouring states and in order to ensure more revenue for the state, we have declassified different brands and increased the rates on a few of them. Through this decision, the state will earn an additional 25+ crores in additional revenue.

     

    • The Cabinet has approved the request by NEEPCO for a waiver of upfront fees amounting to 1 lakh per MW (approx) against the allotment of the 50MW Wah Umiam Stage-I and 100MW Wah Umiam Stage-II hydroelectric projects in the Umiew River basin.

     

    • The Cabinet has approved the implementation of the revised All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Scale of Pay for faculty of Shillong Polytechnic and others on transfer to the Directorate of Higher & Technical Education. 

     

    • The Cabinet has approved the amendment of the proviso under sub-rule (3) of Rule 7 of the Meghalaya Agriculture Engineering (Mechanical) Services Rules from 25% of the total strength in the Grade of Service to 30%.
