Employment crunch in India is forcing highly professional candidates to join lower grade posts in government departments. In a realist statistics taken on the present scenario of our country’s employment situation, it was noted that, many young professionals who hold highly qualified degrees, are joining Lower grade posts in government offices.
Gujarat police has about 1000 professionals, holding MBA, BCA, M.tech, B.ed, B.A., M.Sc degrees, who are holding grade-3 posts in police services. As per data compiled by the Gujarat police, around 1,000-odd candidates selected as LRD’s in 2017 hold professional degrees. Ironically, the eligibility criteria for the job are only Class 12 pass. LRDs are hired on fixed pay for a period of five years after which they are inducted as regular constables, a class three post.
