    Following
a terrorist incident in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, a paramilitary officer was
killed while performing his or her job on Sunday. Two significant attacks on
security guards had occurred in the previous week.

    According
to police, the terrorists opened fire at a checkpoint at the Gangoo border in
    Pulwama from apple orchards.

    A
Central Reserve Police Force assistant sub-inspector named Vinod Kumar was
injured in the incident and was transported to the hospital. The physicians had
already pronounced him dead when they brought him.

    Following
the incident, prompt reinforcements were dispatched to the region, and a search
operation was started to locate the terrorists.

    Mushtaq
Ahmad, an Assistant Sub Inspector with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, was
murdered and two other policemen were hurt on Tuesday when terrorists stormed a
police checkpoint in the Lal Bazar neighbourhood of Srinagar.

    The
attack was blamed on ISIS, and the ISIS propaganda website Amaq posted a video
that appeared to be captured on the assailants' bodycams. Threats of other
    assaults were also made.

    Security
forces are on high alert due to the forthcoming Amarnath yatra, yet attacks
have nonetheless occurred. Thousands more soldiers have been stationed close to
the yatra route in addition to the Valley's already extensive security network.

    The
security forces have carried out anti-terrorist operations in the past six
months, killing over 100 terrorists, the majority of them were local recruits,
    according to the police.
