New Delhi : A shameful act by the guards of the common people has left a big question as to how much safe is women in the hands of the protectors of the society? A Tihar Jail inmate aged 42 was being taken to West Bengal from New Delhi in a train for a court hearing when she was raped on the way by the police constable accompanying her.
According to the complaint filed by the woman inmate, the incident took place on August 3 when the woman was returning to Delhi after attending a court hearing in Murshidabad.
The constable was part of the team who was escorting her to West Bengal from Tihar Jail.
As per the reports, the woman was escorted to the train’s toilet by two policewomen who were with her in the train. The male police constable then asked the two police woman to return to their seats while he offered to stay guard outside the toilet.
After the policewomen went away, the police constable barged into the toilet and raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she opened her mouth in front of the authorities.
She returned to Tihar jail and narrated her ordeal to the jail doctor and superintendent, who approached Hari Nagar police station. A zero FIR was lodged and a medical examination conducted confirming sexual assault.
