anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, which is being observed in India. The
Kargil War, also known as the Kargil war, was officially over on this date in
1999 when Indian troops successfully reclaimed mountain peaks that had been

among all three services of the nation's armed forces, Rajnath Singh announced the creation of "joint theatre commands" on Sunday.

The defence minister declared that Pakistan-Occupied
Kashmir (PoK) was, is, and will always be a part of India while speaking at the
"Kargil Vijay Diwas" celebration in Jammu. "We are firmly
committed to the PoK resolution that was approved by the Parliament. PoK was,
is, and will always be a fundamental component of India. How is it possible

color:black">On July 26, 1999, the Indian Army beat Pakistan. The day has since
been celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas to honour the valour and pride of the
Indian military personnel.

color:black">The last time India and Pakistan engaged in full-fledged armed
combat was during the Kargil War. The Kargil War marked the first time that
India and Pakistan engaged in hostilities after developing nuclear weapons. The
Pakistan Army crossed the Line of Control into India and captured important
mountain peaks, starting the Kargil War.

color:black">The incursion was first discovered in May 1999, although at the
time it was believed that the perpetrators were terrorists or militants rather
than members of the Pakistani Army.

color:black">The Kargil-Drass area of Jammu and Kashmir was the scene of a
high-altitude conflict as the Indian Army responded with greater force to
Pakistan's heavy shelling on May 9 as it attempted to offer cover fire to let
more invaders cross over to the Indian side.

May. Two fighter planes and one chopper belonging to the IAF were destroyed. As
a result, the Indian attack was intensified in June and July to retake
