anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, which is being observed in India. The
Kargil War, also known as the Kargil war, was officially over on this date in
1999 when Indian troops successfully reclaimed mountain peaks that had been
taken by Pakistani intruders.

combat was during the Kargil War. The Kargil War marked the first time that
India and Pakistan engaged in hostilities after developing nuclear weapons. The
Pakistan Army crossed the Line of Control into India and captured important

time it was believed that the perpetrators were terrorists or militants rather
than members of the Pakistani Army.
