Kerala man travelling from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on skateboard dies in Haryana
He had planned to travel to Bhutan, Nepal, and Cambodia after finishing the Kanyakumari-Kashmir route on his skateboard.

Digital Desk: A youth from Kerala who was making a journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir on a skateboard died on Tuesday after being hit by a truck in Haryana’s Panchkula.

Anas Hajas, 31, was hit by a speeding truck at 7:30 a.m. while travelling from Pinjore in Panchkula to Nalagarh in Himachal Pradesh.

According to Pinjore police station investigation officer Ram Karan, "He was on his skateboard when a truck hit him from the back and fled the scene. However, other locals took down the car's registration number and gave the authorities the information. Hajas was carried to the nearby Kalka Government Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead.

Hajas, a native of Thiruvananthapuram's Venjaramoodu, had embarked on the 3511-kilometre journey on May 29.

Hajas claimed to be only 600 kilometres from Kashmir in a video posted on social media on July 30 by a local village group. Kashmir might be reached in another 15 days. I only skate 40 to 50 kilometres a day these days. So far, everything has been safe. In the video posted from the Haryana-Punjab border, he remarked, "Thanks to everyone.

The expedition was started by Hajas to raise awareness of skating. After earning a degree in computer science, Hajas began working for an IT company in Technopark in Thiruvananthapuram. Three years prior, he purchased a skating board and began practising.

He had planned to travel to Bhutan, Nepal, and Cambodia after finishing the Kanyakumari-Kashmir route on his skateboard.

Even though he had been regularly practising long skateboard journeys, the trip to Kashmir had not been pre-planned. Hajas told his family and friends about the trip just a few days before he set out on it. Other than two changes of clothes, a pair of shoes, and his helmet, he did not travel with any luggage.

Hajas began his quest by travelling up to 100 kilometres every day. Later, he reduced the distance travelled in a day on the suggestion of friends. Hajas, a bachelor, had the support of his mother, Shaila Beevi, and father, Aliyarkunji, who works in Saudi Arabia.

His family members, who are expected to be in Kalka on Wednesday, have been informed by the Haryana Police. The body will be given to the family after a post-mortem examination, according to the police. In accordance with sections 304 A and 279 of the IPC, Pinjore police have filed a FIR.
