New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind returned to India today after his successful completion of 7-day visit to Japan and Philippines. On the first day of his visit, Kovind held talks with the Indian residents of Philippines.
President Kovind and his wife were accorded a warm welcome upon their arrival at the Manila airport. At the invitation of Philippines President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Mr. Kovind unveiled the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Center of peace education at a college in Manila.
Kovind left for Japan after his Philippines visit for various programmes, where he took part in the enthronement ceremony of newly anointed Japanese emperor Naruhito.
The visit to Philippines had come on the occasion to mark 70 years of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. On the other hand, Kovind’s visit to Japan was the first Presidential visit from India to Japan in the past 19 years.
