Digital Desk: Six Rajya Sabha members, including Nagaland's first woman Rajya Sabha MP, S. Phangnon Konyak, took their oaths as members of the Upper House on Monday in the presence of chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu and other members of parliament.

The Bharatiya Janata Party had two MPs (Pabitra Margherita of Assam and S. Phangnon Konyak of Nagaland), the United People's Party Liberal had one (Rwngwra Narzary of Assam), the Communist Party of India had one (Santosh Kumar of Kerala), the Communist Party of India-Marxist had one (AA Rahim of Kerala), and the Congress had one (Jebi Mather Hisham, Kerala).
Pabitra Margherita, an actor-turned-politician, is the BJP's state spokesperson in Assam. Margherita received 46 votes, and Narzary received 44 votes in an alliance with UPPL's Rwngwra Narzary, helping them defeat Congress' Ripun Bora.
