Digital Desk: West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, who was taken to AIIMS Bhubaneswar by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday under a high court order, has been returned to Kolkata.
The minister took a 5.20 a.m. flight from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata, arriving at 6.34 a.m. He is currently being held at the CGO complex in Kolkata under ED custody until August 3. On Saturday, the ED arrested Partha in connection with the alleged School Service Commission (SSC) scam in West Bengal.
Partha Chatterjee and his assistant, Arpita Mukherjee, have been detained by the ED until August 3. The Calcutta court also ordered medical examinations of both arrested defendants every 48 hours.
The court further instructed the ED not to question Arpita between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Although Chatterjee has several chronic ailments, the head of AIIMS Bhubaneswar stated on Monday that hospitalisation is unnecessary at this time.
However, as instructed by the Calcutta HC, the reports were given to the Investigating Officer of the ED, Chatterjee's attorney, and the relevant doctor from SSKM Hospital following the examination.
