PM Modi appeals to State to reduce VAT on fuel for People's Welfare

    Digital Desk: In his meeting
with the chief ministers, PM Modi appealed to them over the Covid matter. The
improvement of health infrastructure could only be achieved by the combined
efforts of the center and the states, he said, adding that coordination was
even more vital now that the world was facing war.

chain, we need to increase sentiments of cooperative federalism," he said.

    According to the Prime
Minister, the Union government lowered fuel taxes and some states followed, but
others did not. Therefore, fuel prices are higher in those states, which is
impacting the people. PM Modi said, "I am not criticizing anyone but
request Maharashtra, West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Jharkhand,
Tamil Nadu to reduce VAT now and give benefits to people."

people, in national interest, please reduce VAT for the benefit of your people.
What was to be done was not done, but please cooperate now," Modi added.

    The Prime Minister said
vaccination of all eligible children at the earliest possible time is a
priority for the government, and specialized programs will need to be conducted
    in schools.

    According to him, there has
been a rise in COVID-19 cases in some states in the last two weeks, which
should be taken seriously. “Our scientists and experts are continuously
monitoring the national and global situation. We have to work on their
suggestions with a pre-emptive, pro-active and collective approach,” he said.
