As a goodwill gesture, Prime Minister Modi presented a Pashmina stole to Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson. The stole was packaged in a Jammu and Kashmir Papier Mache box. Since time immemorial, Kashmiri Pashmina stoles have been treasured for their rare material, exquisite craftsmanship, and evocative designs.
Pashmina is a unique art form of the Union Territory of Kashmir, which is well-known for producing some of the finest Pashmina stoles. The wool used to make Pashmina stoles comes from a special breed of Kashmiri goat found in the Himalayan highlands.
The stole was packed in a Kashmir Papier Mache box handcrafted and coloured. The piece is hand-painted in a floral design depicting Kashmir valley flora and fauna. This piece's design is an intricate pattern drawn with a fine thin brush.
This piece was created using water-based colours and natural pigments. The design incorporates pure gold foil and paint, lending the piece a royal appearance. Finally, the piece is lacquered to protect it from water and increase its durability.
