Digital Desk: Based on a official declaration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak at the conclusion of the yearlong festivities honouring Lachit Barphukan's 400th birthday on Friday at 11 AM in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The Prime Minister has consistently worked to honour the historical figures from India whose efforts haven't received the respect they deserve.

An official statement claims that there are several instances in recent memory where the prime minister made sure that such unsung heroes received the praise, honour, and promotion they deserved for the sake of children and society as a whole.

An official release said that in November 2022, PM Modi visited the public event "Mangarh Dham ki Gaurav Gatha" and honoured the Bhil freedom warrior Govind Guru.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the celebrations in Guwahati in February of this year.

Lachit Barphukan (1622-1672) was the legendary General of the Ahom Kingdom of Assam who beat the Mughals and effectively put an end to the Mughals' ever-expanding aspirations under Aurangzeb. Lachit Barphukan led the Assamese forces in the Battle of Saraighat in 1671, defeating the Mughals in a crushing and humiliating defeat.

Lachit Barphukan is regarded as one of India's greatest military heroes. The week-long celebrations for Ahom general Lachit Barphukan's 400th birth anniversary began on Friday in Guwahati, with diverse uniformed men and women taking part in a march past to honour his heroism and sacrifice in repelling Mughal armies. The celebrations conclude with a visit to the national capital, Vigyaan Bhawan, from November 23 to 25.
