New Delhi : In a latest report presented by the United Nations, India is soon going to beat China to become the most populous country of the world, whereas the Chinese population will decrease by 31.4 million or around 2.2 per cent between 2019 and 2050.
The reported titled. The World Population 2019: Highlights estimated that the world’s population is expected to increase by two million by 2050 from the present 7.7 billion and half of the world’s population would be constituted by India along with eight other countries.
Apart from India, the other eight countries expected to show the biggest increase in population are- Nigeria, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Egypt and the USA.
The report further stated that the population of the sub-Saharan Africa is expected to practically double by 2050.
It has also been reported that though the global fertility rate will slow down, yet there will be an upsurge in the world population.
It may be mentioned here that average number of births per woman in 1990 was 3.2 and it fell to 2.5 by 2019 and will further decline to 2.2 by 2050.
