    Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Assam on April 28, several projects on the list

    PM Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for seven new cancer hospitals across Assam


    Digital Desk: PM Narendra Modi will visit Assam on Thursday, April 28. His visit holds several projects inaugural to develop the state.


    The Prime Minister will lay the foundation for Diphu Veterinary College, West Karbi Anglong Degree College, and Agricultural College (Kolonga, West Karbi Anglong). These projects, amounting to more than 500 crores, will create new opportunities for skill development and employment in the region.


    According to the Prime Minister's Office, PM Modi will address a rally to significantly boost regional peace initiatives in Diphu, Karbi Anglong district, at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.


    PM Modi will be welcomed by swaying one lakh National flags to greet his visit.


    According to the official release, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for over 2,950 Amrit Sarovar projects during the programme. The state will build these Amrit Sarovars at the cost of around Rs. 1,150 crore.


    He will also set the stage for several educational projects. At approximately 01:45 p.m., the Prime Minister will visit Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh and dedicate the Dibrugarh Cancer Hospital to the nation.


    Later, around 3 p.m., PM Modi will attend a public function at Dibrugarh's Khanikar ground, where he will dedicate six new cancer hospitals to the nation and lay the groundwork for seven new cancer hospitals.


    According to a press release from the Prime Minister's Office, the recent signing of the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) by India and the Government of Assam with six Karbi militant outfits demonstrated the Prime Minister's unwavering commitment to regional peace and development.


    Assam Cancer Care Foundation, a joint venture of the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts, is executing a project in Dibrugarh to build South Asia's largest affordable cancer care network, with 17 cancer care hospitals spread across the state.


    "In Phase 1 of the project, seven of the ten hospitals have been completed, with the remaining three in various stages of construction. The project's second phase will see the construction of seven new cancer hospitals, "the press release stated.


    The Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation seven cancer hospitals that were completed as part of the project's first phase. Cancer hospitals are being constructed in Dibrugarh, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Darrang, Tezpur, Lakhimpur, and Jorhat.


    The Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for seven new cancer hospitals in Dhubri, Nalbari, Goalpara, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Tinsukia, and Golaghat built as part of phase 2 of the project.


    Notably, the Assam government has declared April 28 a state holiday in both districts.
