    PSI Scam: Recruitment wing DySP arrested

    Digital Desk: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Recruitment, Shanthkumar, on Friday, a day after the department apprehended him for interrogation in connection with the police sub-inspector (PSI) recruitment scam. Reportedly, he is considered to be at the top of the recruitment wing's organization.

    Sources quoted that the DySP is allegedly involved in tampering with the OMR sheets of some successful candidates in the PSI exam, which was held in October last year, following which the government has cancelled the tests.

    Shanthkumar has been working in the recruitment wing for the last 12 years. He was recently transferred to the Internal Security Division (ISD). He joined the police department as a constable at the City Armed Reserve (CAR) in 2006. In 2006 he gave the Reserve Sub-Inspector (RSI) exam under the in-service quota and obtained the post. He was later promoted to the rank of inspector, and subsequently, he acquired the post of DySP.
