Digital Desk: A video has gone viral on social media platforms showing a few people serving opium and poppy husk on the campus of a government school in the Barmer district. The incident happened following the Independence Day celebration at the Gudamalani town-based Ravli Nadi school.

The Chief Block Education Officer (CBEO) Omprakash Vishnoi stated that the event happened in a government school in the Gudamalani area of Barmer.

"After the Independence Day event, about a dozen individuals made it to school. Four videos that went viral following the incident claimed that the accused were giving each other opium and poppy husk to consume," said Vishnoi.

The officer added that nobody was present at the school when the police arrived there.  "We will take statements from children and teachers tomorrow to figure out who the accused are," he added.

According to reports, a few people, including local authorities, sat on a cot on the school grounds after the flag-hoisting ceremony at around 8 a.m. on Independence Day and distributed opium and poppy husk. In the viral video, 10 to 12 people can be seen. In the background, there were a few students as well. For around two hours, opium was distributed as part of the "program."
