New Delhi : The Supreme Court has issued a notice against advocate Utsav Bains for his affidavit claiming that the allegations of sexual harassment against Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi are a conspiracy to frame him. The apex court will hear the matter on April 24th, 2019.
The apex court asked advocate Utsav bains to clarify the paras 17 ad 18 of his affidavit where he had claimed of being a witness of a chain of events and names who were involved in framing CJI in the case as reported by Bar and Bench.
The Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi was accused of sexual harassment by a former Supreme Court staff member who worked at the apex court between May 2014 and December 2018.
Soon after these allegations cropped up against the CJI, a special bench was immediately convened to look t look into the matter of grave pubic importance touching upon the independence of the judiciary.
CJI Ranjan Gogoi also showed concerns on the attack on the independence of office of the CJI where few ”conspirators” were trying to malign the identity of the judiciary. CJI squashed all the allegations made against him.
