Guwahati/ 14th May’2018 (Prag News Desk):
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has been charged with abetting suicide of his late wife Sunanda Pushkar, four years after her death.
Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in her room in a five-star hotel in Delhi. Mr. Tharoor, a parliamentarian from Kerala, has also been accused of cruelty in his marriage by a police chargesheet submitted in a Delhi court today.
Mr Tharoor, in tweets, called the charges “preposterous”. The Congress also rubbished the charges. He is the only person named as an accused in the 3,000-page chargesheet.
Sunanda Pushkar, 51, was found dead in her hotel suite on January 17, 2014, days after she publicly accused her husband of having an affair with a Pakistani journalist. A day before, she had called a prominent journalist and had talked about a big reveal.
Police reports mentioned that Sunanda Pushkar had committed suicide as the couple frequently fought in private as well as in public sphere which showed their breaking relationship. Initially the police termed the whole case as murder after AIIMS released the post mortem report that death was caused due to “unnatural death”.
