Laxmikanth Reddy's father drove his children to a convent college in an
autorickshaw, he dreamed of his son receiving a convent education and making it
    big in the business world.

"I still remember the second when I requested my father join me on stage
in accepting the very best outstanding scholar medal given by the varsity where
he came every day to drop and pick up kids," recalls Reddy, 27, who plans
to provide a home for his parents as soon as he graduates from IIM-A.

Here is a story about determination and hard effort. Laxmi, as he is
affectionately known, has never been particularly wealthy, but Goddess
Saraswati has always been kind to him.

Godavarikhani in Telangana, comes from a farming family. As farming became more
unreliable, his father began driving auto rickshaws, which he did for many
years. He had left it due to disability a few years before.

"Until class VII, I was a Telugu student. My father then collected
resources to get me to the convent college, where he would drop off various
children. I attended there from eighth to tenth grade. I was awarded a full
scholarship to study science in a junior faculty setting. "As a result of
it, I was awarded a scholarship to study at Sreenidhi Institute of Science and
Expertise," says Laxmikanth Reddy, who graduated with a bachelor's degree
in mechanical engineering in 2016. Wrestling ruined the intermission. With his
father's health failing, he was forced to seek help from the community and
provide tuition in order to make money and pay bills. The group offered him
lodging and boarding, but he had to travel 28 kilometres each day by state bus.

Reddy was hired by a company in Hyderabad that specialises in software
development. In 2019, he founded a company with friends to promote terrace
gardening and farming. Covid, on the other hand, had other ideas. "The
epidemic sparked my desire to study more and earn a management degree." In
2020, I put in a lot of effort and succeeded in passing the CAT exam in 2021.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The feeling has only begun to seep in
after four days on the IIM-A campus."

his PGPX in 2023, his first priority will be to buy a house for his parents.
"My father and mother put a stop to my desire to fund my education. I
might first get a job and save enough money to make an offer to them. After
that, I need to go out on my own and pursue my dream of being an entrepreneur –
that is why I came here," he says, adding that his family and sister, who
now works for a company in Hyderabad, have remained his pillars of strength.
