PM Modi will dedicate to the country and will lay the foundation stone for 11 projects at Chennai's Jawaharlal Nehru.

Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit Tami Nadu on Thursday (May 26) to launch 11 projects worth over ₹31,500 crores in Chennai, including laying the foundation stones for the redevelopment of five Railway stations in Tamil Nadu's Chennai Egmore, Rameswaram, Madurai, Katpadi, and Kanyakumari.

The redevelopment of railway stations is projected to cost about Rs. 1,800 crore. In addition, Modi will dedicate 1,152 residences built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban as part of the 'Light House Project Chennai,' which cost 116 crores. The prime minister will also lay the foundation stone for 11 projects in Chennai costing over Rs 31,500 crore.

The following are the top updates:

The 75-kilometer Madurai-Teni railway gauge conversion project, which cost over 500 crores, would promote tourism in the region, while the 30-kilometer Tambaram-Chengalpattu third railway line, which cost over 590 crores, is expected to improve suburban connectivity.

Notably, the Prime Minister announced the Lighthouse projects on January 1, 2021, to leverage modern technology to speed up the completion of housing projects while also making them more durable. Since then, he's been regularly checking up on the project, even using drones to track its progress.

The project was completed on time and will be beneficial to the needy. It is to be noted that this will be the PM's first visit to Chennai since the state's DMK government took power last year.

PM Modi will dedicate to the country and will lay the foundation stone for 11 projects at Chennai's Jawaharlal Nehru.

It may be mentioned that a PMO press release stated, "PM Modi will dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of 11 projects worth over ₹31,400 crores here. These projects will also help significantly improve socio-economic prosperity in the region, have a transformative impact on several sectors, and also help create employment opportunities."
