Desk: The number of coronavirus infections in India increased by 18,815 on
Friday, bringing the overall number of confirmed cases since the pandemic's
start to 4,35,85,554. This week, the nation has already recorded more than
83,000 cases. Over 3,300 new infections were recorded in Kerala in the previous
day. On Thursday, the state of Bengal also reported around 2,880 new COVID-19
cases. According to information provided by the news agency PTI, 2,765
infections were reported in the southern state of Tamil Nadu in the previous 24
hours. 2,678 new cases were reported in Maharashtra in a single day, 540 of
which originated in Mumbai. Delhi reported 579 new infections; Gujarat reported
717, while Madhya Pradesh reported 140.

1.  Data from the Union Health Ministry
   updated on Friday show that there are now 1,22,335 active COVID-19 cases,
   an increase of almost 2,878. 0.28 percent of infections are active
   infections.

2.  In the previous 24 hours, 38 fresh
   fatalities were also reported. According to figures from the health

   the weekly positivity rate was 4.09 percent, according to the health
   ministry.
