Raipur: Three civilians died here in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district after Naxals set off a IED blast in an oil tanker. The civilians including the driver of the oil tanker died in the explosion which took place in the Tumapul area today.
The oil tanker had left the Tumapal Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) camp for supplying diesel to vehicles engaged in the ongoing construction work for the Rawaghat railway line project between Tumapal and Kosaronda in the district.
Followed by the improvised explosive device (IED) blast, an encounter took place between an SSB party and the Maoists. The superintendent of police, Kanker, reached the incident site with additional force.
However no death has been reported after the encounter subsided. Yet the SSB is carrying out a search operation to trace out the Naxals involved in the IED blast today.
