as giving Agniveers preference in central paramilitary forces and defence
public sector undertakings upon retirement, on June 16, raising the upper age
restriction for enlistment under the scheme from 21 to 23 for the year 2022.
The 'Agniveers,' as the soldiers
enrolled under the Agnipath scheme will be termed, would also be given
precedence in admission into state police forces, according to many BJP-ruled
states.
