The resort of the BJP leader's son, detained for alleged participation in the murder of a 19-year-old girl, was razed on instructions from Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami.
Digital Desk: The state government ordered the demolition of the Vanatara resort in Uttarakhand's Rishikesh, which is owned by BJP leader's son Pulkit Arya, who was arrested for his alleged role in the murder of a 19-year-old receptionist Ankita Bhandari. After the teen's death protests fueled up, and following it Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami ordered the resort's demolition.
"The demolition of the resort orders were provided by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami," said Abhinav Kumar, Special Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.
A court sentenced the three suspects — Pulkit Arya, who owns the resort in the Yamkeshwar neighbourhood here, resort manager Saurabh Bhaskar, and assistant manager Ankit Gupta — to 14 days in judicial custody, according to police.
Furthermore, the CM has directed district magistrates to conduct an investigation into all of the state's resorts in the aftermath of the suspected assassination of the teenager, which caused protests. The Chief Minister has also directed that necessary action be taken against illegally running resorts.

According to Dhami, such offenses would be punished harshly. "That's unfortunate. The police are working, and they have made the arrests. "Whoever commits such horrific atrocities will face the worst punishment," he said.
"I immediately urged after the girl's murder that the structure should be burned to instill fear among criminals," said Yamkeshwar MLA Renu Bisht.
"I commend the CM for taking the situation seriously and ordering prompt action against the offenders. I also applaud him for suspending a revenue police sub-inspector who misbehaved with the victim's parents during the filing of the case "The MLA said.
Pulkit Arya is the son of Haridwar-based BJP leader Vinod Arya. Vinod Arya was previously the head of the Uttarakhand Mati Kala Board, with the rank of a state minister.
Three persons were arrested on Friday, including resort owner Pulkit Arya, in connection with the alleged murder of the girl, who went missing roughly six days earlier. On September 18, the girl went missing.
The girl's father claimed that the accused abused her and that audio of the incident was recorded.
