Watch: Did TMC's Mahua Moitra hide her Louis Vuitton bag during debate over price rise?

Digital Desk: Mahua Moitra, the firebrand leader of the Trinamool Congress, is grabbing the limelight once more after a video of her 'hiding' a pricey Louis Vuitton bag during a Lok Sabha debate went viral on social media. As the video gained popularity on social media, internet users questioned how a Trinamool MP could question the government about price hikes while still carrying such a pricey handbag. As per reports, the expensive Louis Vuitton bag costs more than Rs 1.5 lakh.

In the video, Moitra can be seen hiding the costly bag under the table near her feet as Trinamool's Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar addresses the government and aggressively discusses how the increase in LPG cylinder prices has affected household budgets.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra recently criticized the prime minister on the issue of crimes against women after a BJP MLA in Gujarat was accused of rape. "Lady raped & confined by BJP Guj Minister Arjunsinh for 5 yrs. Expecting Hon’ble @ombirlakota to hand mic to Oppn as SOON as he enters LS on Monday so we can ask PMji to Maafi Maango. Equality before law, Sir! Ominous silence from Drama Bahu brigade."

Earlier this month, she sparked controversy after she made comments about Goddess Kali during a press conference. In response to a question regarding a controversial movie poster depicting a lady dressed as Goddess Kali smoking, Moitra stated that, in her opinion, Goddess Kali is a meat-eating and alcohol-accepting goddess.

In support of her claims, she cited the famous Tarapith Shakti Peeth temple in West Bengal's Birbhum area, where meat and drink are offered while worshipping Goddess Kali's "Maa Tara" form.

Following criticism from the BJP, she tweeted, "Bring it on BJP! Am a Kali worshipper. I am not afraid of anything. Not your ignoramuses. Not your goons. Not your police. And most certainly not your trolls. Truth doesn’t need backup forces. "

Notably, Jiten Chatterjee, a BJP leader, had filed an FIR against Moitra, accusing her of hurting religious sentiments.
