Kolkata : After the CBI decided to question the Chief of Kolkata Police over Chit fund scams issue, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee declared “Satyagraha” against the government over “falling democracy” and an “attack on the Constitution”.
Mamata Banerjee will continue to sit on “Satyagraha” till the country and its Constitution are “saved”. The Chief Minister skipped meals and remained awake the entire night on a makeshift dais here along with some senior ministers and party members.
Talking to the media persons, Mamata Banerjee said that she will continue with her Satyagraha until the country is “saved”. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Delhi’s Chief Minister have extended their support to the West Bengal CM. Apart from UP and Delhi, Madhya Pradesh CM Kamalnath and Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani too called Mamata to discuss over the issue.
Several party supports from different districts thronged the area shouting slogans in support of Banerjee. “We have come here in support of our beloved didi. We stand in support of her,” said a supporter Poritosh Sengupta from Halisahar. In an unprecedented development on Sunday evening, Banerjee sat on a dharna, protesting CBI’s attempt to quiz Kolkata Police chief Rajeev Kumar in connection with chit fund scams.
A CBI team reached Kumar’s residence in the city’s Loudon Street area where they were denied permission, bundled into police jeeps and were whisked to a police station. The CBI team wanted to question the police chief in connection with the chit fund scam, but they were instead huddled out of the police chief’s residence.
Many top political leaders have come out in support of the West Bengal CM to fight against the fascist forces that is working in the country presently. Mamata Banerjee will be sitting on Satyagraha from 2 pm to 4 pm against the government from today.
