Digital Desk: In a recent development, 278 soldiers from the Myanmar Army sought refuge in Mizoram following a clash with the people's army along the Karma River near the border.

According to reports, Myanmar army personnel entered Indian territory in the Bandukba area of Lawngtlai District of Mizoram, fully armed and equipped. They were subsequently taken to the Assam Rifles camp, where they spent the whole night.

This incident comes after 151 Myanmarese soldiers, who fled armed clashes with an ethnic insurgent group in their country, sought refuge in Mizoram on January 2.

Notably, they were later airlifted back to Myanmar by the Myanmar Air Force from Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram.

The soldiers had crossed the Indian border into southern Mizoram's Lawngtlai district on December 29 after their camps near the international borders were overrun by the Arakan Army, an insurgent group.
