A Class 12 student at CSKM Public School in South Delhi was brutally assaulted without provocation...
Digital Desk: Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu has vehemently denounced the most recent racially motivated assault on an Arunachalee student in Delhi.
On August 25, in the village of Kharak Rewada, the victim, Hongmay Ngemu, a Class 12 student at CSKM Public School in South Delhi was brutally assaulted without provocation.
A video of the assault, which showed the accused, Neelu Pradhan, violently assaulting Ngemu, went viral on social media. Ngemu received multiple stitches after sustaining severe injuries to his head, leg, and arm.
When Ngemu's elder sister learned about the incident later, she said they faced difficulties trying to file a complaint with the local police. When they went to AIIMS for the test, they were advised that the police should go with them despite initially being told that the victim's case required a medical assessment.
Eleven days after the incident, the FIR was finally filed at Maidan Garhi police station under sections 308 and 34 of the IPC. Both the medical procedure and concerns for their safety were attributed to the delay.
Accused Videos of the assault were posted on Instagram by Neelu Pradhan and his friend Azar Khan, who later deactivated those accounts.
On August 29, the CSKM Public School principal also filed a complaint about the incident. The victim's family and the school administration allegedly originally declined a medical checkup, which caused the case to be delayed, according to the police.
PN Khrimey, Joint Commissioner of Police of the Special Police Unit for the North-East Region, met with the victim at CSKM School. According to reports, the victim's statement has been recorded as this incident's investigations continue.
