Digital Desk: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh shared optimism about significant developments for the people of Manipur after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

Singh emphasized the crucial nature of their discussions, stating, “Today, I had the esteemed privilege of meeting with the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Shri @AmitShah Ji in New Delhi. Engaging in a profound exchange, we discussed matters of paramount importance concerning our state.”

Assuring Manipur's residents, Singh revealed that the Government of India is set to make key decisions in their interests. Following this high-level meeting, Singh engaged in further discussions with senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs at North Block. The focus was on strategic measures aimed at fostering peace in Manipur, reflecting a concerted effort to address the region's persistent challenges.

Notably, Singh also inspected the ongoing construction of Manipur Bhavan at Dwarka in New Delhi. He expressed confidence that once completed, the Bhavan would become a valuable asset for Manipur residents in Delhi, serving as a cultural landmark representing their vibrant heritage.

This development follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to Manipur last year, where he spent three days assessing the law and order situation in the wake of ethnic clashes.

Despite efforts to restore peace, sporadic incidents of violence persist, prompting a peace pact between the government and the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), the oldest terror outfit in Manipur. This pact, signed by the Meitei community-dominated group, aims to renounce violence and contribute to stability in the state.

Beyond political efforts, citizens of Hyderabad have joined the Citizens Action for Manipur in a national campaign for peace. Various social groups held a meditation session and poetry recital, signing a petition urging Prime Minister Modi to intervene and end the violence. The initiative, supported by citizens, including children from Rainbow Homes and artist Ignatius Xavier, underscores the collective call for peace in Manipur.
