Digital Desk: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday visited the families of the four persons who were recently in a firing incident in Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district.

The Manipur Chief Minister visited the houses of the bereaved families and offered them his condolences.

Taking to X, the Manipur Chief Minister shared the photos of his visit today and said that the government is committed to apprehending the culprits and bringing them to justice.

He stated, "Visited the families of the four departed souls in Ningthoukhong. I express my profound condolences to the grieving families. In this difficult time, I want to assure the affected families that the government is committed to providing all necessary support to apprehend the culprits and ensure justice is served for the incident.”

Four farmers, including a father and son duo, were reportedly shot and killed by armed miscreants on January 18 at around 3:45 p.m. in Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou, which is located in the Bishnupur district. As per sources, armed miscreants came down from above Lamlai Kabui village, traveled over 2 Km to a water supply plant located in the middle of paddy fields, and allegedly killed 4 civilians.

On January 18, during a gunfight at Kangchup in the Kangpokpi district, one village volunteer also lost his life. The deceased person was identified as Takhellambam Manoranjan, 28. Meanwhile, three people were injured.

During a news briefing held at the Chief Minister's Secretariat on January 18, Kuldeep Singh, the Security Advisor for Manipur, voiced grave worries regarding the growing involvement of Kuki militants in attacking both security forces and innocent civilians around the state.

In his discussion of the Bishnupur area firing event, Singh said that three workers were ambushed by Kuki militants near a Naga community, resulting in significant injuries. Singh stated that security forces are on high alert and that attempts are being made to address the situation despite the increased activity.
