Digital Desk: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a bomb blast that rocked Manipur in July by apprehending a second suspect. On Thursday, the central agency, in collaboration with Manipur Police, arrested Md. Islauddin Khan in connection with the explosion that occurred in Kwakta, Bishnupur district, on June 21. The case was originally filed by Manipur Police in Moirang, Bishnupur, and later re-registered by the NIA on June 23 in Imphal.
According to a press release by the NIA, their investigations unveiled the involvement of Md. Islauddin in the bomb blast. The explosion, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a Scorpio vehicle, occurred over a bridge in the area of Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai and Kwakta along Tiddim road. The blast resulted in injuries to three individuals and extensive damage to the bridge and nearby houses.
Following his arrest, Md. Islauddin Khan was presented before the jurisdictional court in Imphal, where he was remanded to NIA custody for a week.
