Digital Desk: In a surprising revelation on Christmas Day, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh asserted that the state has been crisis-free for the past five months. Addressing the media on the occasion of Christmas, Singh acknowledged the outbreak of violence in May earlier this year but highlighted the subsequent months of relative peace.

"While many have been counting the period of crisis as eight months, there has been no problem in the state for the past five months," stated Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

Despite this positive assertion, Singh used the occasion to appeal to the citizens of Manipur to refrain from violence and engage in peaceful dialogue. "I appeal to all the people to stop violence in the state and start getting involved in peace dialogue," he urged.

Singh emphasized the necessity for complete peace and normalcy to return to Manipur, expressing optimism about the improving situation in the Imphal valley. He added, "Imphal valley is beginning to get normal. Similarly, normalcy will also return to other districts of the state like Kangpokpi and Churachandpur."

Acknowledging the impact of the previous unrest, the Chief Minister candidly admitted that the tourism sector of the state had suffered due to the episodes of violence.
