Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has lauded the collaborative efforts of the central and state governments in bringing about a significant improvement in the strife-torn state of Manipur. In an interview with the Assam Tribune newspaper, PM Modi emphasized the proactive measures taken by both administrations to address the longstanding conflict.

PM Modi highlighted the pivotal role played by Home Minister Amit Shah, who personally engaged with various stakeholders during the peak of the conflict, conducting over 15 meetings to facilitate dialogue and resolution. This hands-on approach from the central government underscores its commitment to restoring peace and stability in Manipur.

Furthermore, PM Modi assured ongoing support from the central government, including financial aid for relief and rehabilitation efforts in the state. The collaborative approach between the Centre and the state government reflects a coordinated strategy aimed at addressing the root causes of the conflict and providing necessary assistance to affected communities.

However, the Prime Minister's remarks come amidst criticism from the Opposition, who have repeatedly targeted the government over the Manipur issue. The Opposition's scrutiny underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for swift and effective resolution measures.

The ethnic clashes between the Kukis and Meiteis have claimed nearly 200 lives since erupting in May last year, following protests against the demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status by the Meitei community. The violence has underscored the complex socio-political dynamics in Manipur and the urgency of finding a sustainable solution to prevent further bloodshed.

PM Modi's reassurance in Parliament that the entire country stands with Manipur reflects the government's commitment to prioritizing peace and stability in the region. As efforts for peacebuilding and reconciliation continue, all stakeholders must engage constructively in dialogue and work towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Manipur.
